1. ABOUT THE COLLEGE

International Education College of Dalian Medical University was established in 1985 to offer programs of language training and professional development.

In 2004, the International Education College of Dalian Medical University launched the MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery) program in English and started to recruit international students for degree programs.

In June 2007, Dalian Medical University became one of the first thirty universities authorized to recruit international students for degree programs in English as approved by the Ministry of Education in China after assessment.

In 2009, Dalian Medical University was commissioned by the Ministry of Education in China to recruit international students with the Chinese Government Scholarship.

In 2009, Dalian Medical University was recognized as an advanced unit for international education in Liaoning Province.

In 2011, Dalian Medical University was granted autonomous recruitment for international students supported by the Chinese Government Scholarship and qualifications to recruit international students for the Sino-Russia Humanity Scholarship and Sino-America Humanity Scholarship.

In 2012, Dalian Medical University was recognized as one of the first five Model Universities for international education in Liaoning Province by the Department of Education in Liaoning.

In 2013, Dalian Medical University was approved by the Ministry of Education in China as one of the first nationwide Model Universities for international education.

In 2014, Dalian Medical University was conferred National Advanced Unit for International Education due to the excellent achievements by International Education College.

2. ABOUT THE STUDENTS

The international education of Dalian Medical University has experienced robust expansion in the past ten years. Currently, there are 1,260 International degree students on campus, 12.5% of which are graduate students. With students coming from one hundred different countries and areas of five continents, the proportion of students from any single country is lower than 13%.  Moreover, of the universities in Northeast China and even those countrywide, Dalian Medical University ranks top in both international student scale and number of nations.

Over the past years, international education has come to be one of the most  distinguished features of Dalian Medical University. To fulfill the needs of different students, the university has developed a multi-layer international education system with bachelor degree programs, master degree programs and Ph.D. degree programs. It mainly focuses on medical degree education with short-term training as supplement. For all degree programs, courses are conducted in English while Chinese is an optional subject. So far, medical education at Dalian Medical University has won accreditation from The World Health Organization (WHO) and has been recognized by Ministry of Health, Education or Medical Council in 45 countries. Up to now, more than 1,100 international students have achieved success by graduating from Dalian Medical University.

3. SCHOLARSHIPS

Dalian Medical University provides a variety of scholarship programs to international students, which includes the Chinese government scholarship program, Sino-America humanity scholarship program, Sino-Russia humanity scholarship program, Liaoning provincial government scholarship program, Dalian governmental scholarship program, and Dalian Medical University scholarship program. 4. ADMISSIONS, ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND PROCEDURE

(1) Programs

Most programs in International Education are degree programs. The Bachelor degree program in English covers both MBBS and BDS. The Master and Ph.D. degree programs cover the current postgraduate programs of Dalian Medical University. Prospective students could apply for admissions either in spring or autumn with the exception of Dental programs and other programs taught in Chinese.
In 2015, 100 students will be recruited for the MBBS program and 30 to 35 students for the BDS program. The college is seeking to recruit more postgraduate students. In addition, starting from 2016, more degree programs in English will be introduced which will include Nursery and Clinical Pharmacology.

(2) Entry Requirements

MBBS or BDS program:
Applicant should be between 18-25 years old, healthy, have completed their senior high school courses with good marks, and have solid financial support to afford the study and living expenses in China. Chemistry, physics, biology, English are compulsory subjects. In addition, math is a reference subject for admission evaluation. Non-native English speakers should also submit an English proficiency certificate such as IELTS or TOFEL.

Master programs:
Applicant should be between 23-35 years old, healthy, have a bachelor degree in good marks, and have solid financial support to afford the study and living expenses in China. Work or research experience is always preferred. Non-native English speakers should also submit an English proficiency certificate such as IELTS or TOFEL.

Ph.D. programs:
Applicant should be between 26-40 years old, healthy, have a master degree in good marks, and have solid financial support to afford the study and living expenses in China. Work or research experience is always preferred. Non-native English speakers should also submit an English proficiency certificate such as IELTS or TOFEL.

(3)Procedure for Application

To apply, candidates should register online at (http://studyatdmu.dlmedu.edu.cn). Qualified candidates will receive a letter of pre-admission from the college. After paying the full application and tuition fees, the college will mail official documents to the applicant, who should report to school according to the required time line.
 
5. FUTURE

Since the end of 2014, Dalian Medical University has launched comprehensive educational innovations by bringing in training programs from the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) and Course Leader System. The aim is to further improve the teaching level of international education and maintain the leading status of international medical education in China.
