“Study in China”—The Second Clinical Thinking and Skills Competition of International Medical Students was held in Dalian Medical University

On October 13, “Study in China”—The Second Clinical Thinking and Skills Competition of International Medical Students was held in Dalian Medical University. The competition was jointly organized by China Association for International Education(CAFSA) and Dalian Medical University, and 120 international undergraduate students majoring in clinical medicine from 30 universities in China participated in the competition. The participants were from 28 countries, and the clinical skills were compared and demonstrated in the competition, which showed the youthful charm of overseas students in China and promoted the improvement of the teaching quality of education of international medical students.

On that morning, the opening ceremony of The Second Clinical Thinking and Skills Competition of International Medical Students was held in the lecture hall of the school library.

The competition was divided into preliminary competition and final competition, the competition was race-style, covering subjects like internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, infection and first aid, etc., the projects included cardiopulmonary resuscitation, abdominal puncture, child feeding and dressing change, etc. The final competition simulated the first aid of accident victims. All the questions were real clinical cases in English, each case had a real patient’s name and presentation of clinical symptoms, the participating students were required to complete the operation, after reading cases, which mainly assessed the clinical thinking of international medical students in China, humanistic care spirit centered on patients, communication skills with patients and standardized clinical operation.

On the afternoon of the same day, the closing ceremony of the The Second Clinical Thinking and Skills Competition of International Medical Students was held in the school gymnasium.

The Head of Chief Referee Li Jingnian announced the results of the competition. In this competition,14 participating institutions won the excellent team award, and 15 institutions won the outstanding team award; At the same time,10 institutions won the best team cooperation award,19 institutions won the best feature award, and 30 students won the excellence award for individual skills. Dalian Medical University won the special prize for the host. The leaders presented awards to the winning teams and individuals.
