The school held a grand opening ceremony for new international students of 2020

On the morning of October 9, the school held a grand opening ceremony for the new international students of 2020 in the multi-function hall of the library, welcoming 225 new students from 49 countries from 5 continents. At the opening ceremony, Vice President Zhao Jie made a keynote speech; Teachers' representatives, freshmen's representatives and students' representatives made speeches respectively; Representatives of the attending freshmen made the Medical Student Oath, and the leaders issued the appointment letter for the tutors of the freshman.

The ceremony started with a promotional video and a welcoming video to introduce the school, which presented a three-dimensional image of the school to new students studying in China from the perspectives of history, science and technology, as well as humanities.

Professor Wu Qiong of School of Basic Medicine gave a speech on behalf of the teachers. In fluent English, she expressed the determination of all the teachers to spare no effort to do a good job in teaching, and hoped that the students could adapt to the environment as soon as possible, study hard, and become an excellent doctor.

Chami, from Pakistan, gave a speech on behalf of the freshmen, expressing his excitement about coming to the school and his vision for medical studies. Then, Lin Yabo, a student from Chad, led all the freshmen to make the Medical Student Oath.

At the opening ceremony, the appointment ceremony for the tutors of the freshmen was also held. Wu Bin, Liu Yuan and Yao Jihong awarded the appointment letters to six tutors including Lin Yuan.

Finally, Zhao Jie delivered a speech on behalf of the school. First of all, he thanked the students for their devotion to medicine and their choice of Dalian Medical University at the critical moment in the epidemic. He briefly introduced the basic information of the university and the current situation of the education of overseas students in China. Zhao Jie raised three hopes for new students studying in China. The first is to have the courage to take on responsibilities and set up the lofty ideal of "being virtuous and helping the world". The second is to be down-to-earth, develop a good habit of "being inquisitive and executing promptly". The third is to strengthen exchanges and build a community with a shared future for mankind. He also introduced the school's care for international students during the epidemic, and hoped that the epidemic would be over as soon as possible and students would return to campus as soon as possible.
