The 2023 Lancang-Mekong Future Diplomat Training Program was Successfully Held

The seminar of "2023 Lancang-Mekong Future Diplomat Training Program-Building a Lancang-Mekong Health Community", co hosted by the China Foreign Affairs University, Dalian Medical University and Peking Union Medical College, was successfully held in our school from November 3 to 6.


This training course has rich content and diverse forms, including keynote lectures, expert roundtable forums, student working group meetings, simulated Lancang-Mekong health ministers' meetings, on-site visits, teacher-student discussions, etc. More than 20 experts from the China Foreign Affairs University, Peking Union Medical College, Dalian Medical University, Dalian Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Aier Ophthalmology were invited to provide multi-level training guidance for the recruited more than 60 students. The keynote lecture revolves around "Lancang-Mekong Health Cooperation and Construction of a Community with a Shared Future for Lancang-Mekong Countries". The roundtable forum focuses on "The Needs and Prospects of Lancang-Mekong Health Cooperation", with themes covering Lancang-Mekong health cooperation strategy, talent cultivation, opportunities and challenges, as well as the prevention and treatment of cervical cancer, thyroid disease, eye disease, inflammatory bowel disease, infant nutrition intake, hospital management and other aspects.
At the training working group meeting, with the theme of "Policy Suggestions for Promoting Lancang-Mekong Health Cooperation", representatives of Lancang-Mekong six countries expressed their opinions and conducted discussions on the cooperation topic, and summarized the discussion results in the form of research reports from the working group.
During the stage of "Simulated Lancang-Mekong Health Ministers' Meeting", representatives of the six countries followed the rules of procedure for Lancang-Mekong cooperation, based on the policy consensus reached at the working group meeting, elaborated on their own positions around the theme, and jointly released the "2023 Lancang-Mekong Health Cooperation Initiative". Finally, the expert representatives made detailed comments on the students' work reports and issued graduation certificates and excellent student certificates.
